Many predicted Dean Lister to have a huge advantage in this match, especially with Josh Barnett wearing wrestling shoes seemingly playing right into Listers notorious leg lock game – at least that’s what the betting odds showed. Barnett was able to prove otherwise though with his catch-as catch-can wrestling style.

Result: Josh Barnett submits Dean Lister with a Kesa Gatame/Scarf Hold/ UFC 12 Mark Coleman style neck crank headlock. This is the first time Dean Lister has been submitted in competition in 16 years.

I’ve never tried wrestling shoes but I’ve always been intrigued by them, and they definitely have the “I’m not here to fuck around” look to them . I couldn’t believe how much grip Barnett was getting with them, especially when he was pushing off his toes.
Josh represented the art and it’s traditions. I’m proud of him! Right on sir!
