I saw this video posted on Sherdog’s grappling forum and noticed a nice throw at the beginning of this 65kg match between Brent Metcalf (USA) Meysam Nasiri (Iran).
In judo it’s called a sasae tsurikomi ashi (lifting pulling ankle block), a very common throw or setup.
Is there a name for this in wrestling, other than double under leg trip?
How common is it? Post in the comments below!
In wrestling they call it a footsweep. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0y5_62y3nBU
Thanks, Jim.
It’s uncanny how similar that video is to the way I learned it in judo, especially with driving their right elbow upwards.
I always called it a sprag (English) which basically translates as as a sasae (Japanese)
Hadn’t heard that one before. I tried googling that and I ended up reading about Cornish Wrestling for half an hour!
